Part of the appeal of the snapshot is that it lives in the moment – without ego, pretense or higher order. It serves purely for pleasure. The snapshot is perhaps photography's finest steward. It is, at once, both folk art and poetry of the commonplace. Snapshots are a living history steeped in the scrap-booking tradition.
We are reminded of photography’s unique gift of telling a story – its ability to inform without judgment or malice. Social, cultural and political undertones are revealed both by the lens and distancing of time. The true pleasure lies in discovering the secrets these sweet gems hold dear.
